Day 2: TBILISI – JVARI – MTSKHETA – TBILISI
– Breakfast;
– Transfer to
Mtskheta;
– Jvari monastery upon the
conflux of the rivers Aragvi and Mtkvari. Panoramic view of the
city;
– Svetitskhoveli Cathedral -
which was built in the early 11th century and is the place where
Georgian kings were crowned and buried.
– Transfer back to Tbilisi;
Walking Tour in the Old City. Opportunity to take a glance to the
history of the city from early centuries to
nowadays.
– (Metekhi Church; Bridge of
Peace; Narikala Fortress (Ascend with the cable car, amazing
panorama of the city); District of Sulphur Baths – “Abanotubani”;
Waterfall; Meidan Bazaar – Soul of Old Tbilisi, here you can find
traditional Georgian wine, handmade accessories, souvenirs,
delicacies and many other things; Sharden str. – popular for its
various options of cafes, bars and restaurants);
– Transfer to the hotel and
relax.
Day 3: TBILISI – KAKHETI - TBILISI
– Breakfast; Check-out from the
hotel. Transfer to Kakheti region, famous for its wine-making
history and traditions.
– Bodbe Monastery - The Monastery
of St. Nino at Bodbe. – Sighnaghi (City of Love). The town is
located at the top of the hill and presents splendid views of the
Alazani Valley and the Kakhetian Caucasus;
– Visiting Wine Museum “Gvirabi”
(which means tunnel) - carved in the rock of the Caucasus Mountain
Range. The tunnel was opened in 1962 for the World Wine Congress.
It consists of two main parallel tunnels and 13 smaller
perpendicular ones. The total length of the entire tunnel is 7.7
km. Nowadays, it represents the “Winery Khareba”cellar (Wine
Degustation).
– Transfer back to Tbilisi.
